Worked example
Find the area and perimeter of a square with 6 cm sides.
- 1.
All four sides of a square are equal, so the area is the side multiplied by itself.
A = s² = 6 × 6 = 36 cm²
- 2.
The perimeter adds all four equal sides.
P = 4s = 4 × 6 = 24 cm
Answer: Area = 36 cm² · Perimeter = 24 cm
