Adds up a list of numbers and divides by how many there are. Decimals, negatives and fractions such as 3/4 are all accepted, and the answer is kept exact when it isn't a round decimal.

Worked example

Find the mean of 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42.

1.
Add every number in the list together.
```
4 + 8 + 15 + 16 + 23 + 42 = 108
```
2.
Count how many numbers there are.
```
n = 6
```
3.
Divide the total by the count.
```
108 ÷ 6 = 18
```

Answer: 18
